An original, unpublished illustration by Quentin Blake, created in 2011 to accompany the fairytale 'The Golden Bird'. The published version appears in 'Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm' published by Puffin Books in 2012.
Sir Quentin Blake was born in 1932, and has always made his living as an illustrator. He was appointed the first Children’s Laureate in 1999, is a CBE, and in 2013 received a knighthood for ‘services to illustration'.
